"Susan has such a gentle way about her."

Life coaching is a collaborative relationship where coach and client mutually agree to explore areas of the client's life where the client seeks more fulfillment. Life coaches see their clients as whole and naturally resourceful. They do not diagnose or treat medical, mental or emotional disorders, nor are they licensed therapists. Life coaching is action oriented and addresses present moment concerns through empowering inquiry, nurturing acceptance and compassionate accountability. Sometimes this includes identifying disempowering beliefs and behaviors that clients developed in the past.
Who goes to life coaching?
Coaching clients are high functioning individuals who are ready to learn and utilize life skills and tools to shift their life's direction. They may lead successful lives yet seek even more joy and fulfillment than they've achieved on their own.
Life coaching is offered in many different formats. It can be obtained by attending groups, seminars and private appointments. Coaching can also be found in self help books, eCourses or audio programs. Which form of life coaching is best for you is an individual choice based upon what you wish to achieve, how long you've been aspiring to it and the amount of support and accountability you need.
How long you will be in life coaching is individual and is based upon what you wish to achieve. Some clients have deep rooted fears and beliefs that were developed over a long period of time. For these clients, it is not unusual to stay in life coaching for 1 to 2 years.
There is no way to predict how long it will be before you start feeling the permanent shifts and changes you desire. The best approach to life coaching is to approach it without any expectations of how it will look or how long it will take.

"We are not talking about being incompetent or weak. They are everyday, normal people who have their lives together. They realize the value of having somebody to help them think outside the box." — life coach Laura Berman Fortgang.
